 We need parents(especially DADs)!
This camp happens only as a result of parental involvement. Please consider sharing this fun memory making activity with your children.     We need parents for:
  • Cabin counselors
  • Daytime chaperones
  • Teachers
  • Recreation leaders
If you can come please fill out the adult application fully so we can place you better. All of the activities listed below will be considered on priority basis so the earlier you get your application in to us the more likely your choices will be granted.
    •   CABIN COUNSELOR Counselors are responsible for the safety of their charges during camp. They will sleep in the same quarters and accompany their cabin kids to and from events and meals. They will be asked to share short devotionals and have prayer daily. There is a daily 1 hour cabin time during which you will lead them in optional activities. You will help them perform a skit at camp fire time once during the week. We ask that each counselor have a camp name they will be referred to by other counselors and campers for the week. The names are your choice. Some examples of counselors names in use:  Big Foot, Splash, Rocket Man, Silver Fox, Orca, Cha Cha, Night Hawk, Cecil, Possum

DAYTIME CHAPERONE – (Required of all adults except those actively involved as teachers) During the day there will be co-ed teaching and recreational activities broken down by age group. We need adults to accompany a group to and from these activities to help keep class order and to help the teacher as needed. We find that the adults that start with one learning group like to stick with that group all week so they are seeing different activities each day.

TEACHER (Optional) We encourage you to teach a science / nature / outdoor / class in your area of interest or expertise. Teaching sessions run 70 minutes. You would teach this class 2 times each morning for 3 or 4 mornings depending on how many campers we have. Please include any or all of the following activities: observation skills, hands on experiments, hiking, interaction with the students, time for personal discovery, and most importantly, spiritual lessons based on the observation of God’s handiwork. We want to drive home the creation message to our children. Suggested topics include, but are not limited to: Stream ecology, tree / plant identification, forestry, hiking, studies in the animal kingdom, astronomy, geology, physics, chemistry, lifecycle of the forest, dinosaurs (from a young earth creation perspective), various outdoor skills (survival, knot tying, fire building.) Indoor facilities are available if needed.  See the web page "Teaching Ideas" for more information.

RECREATION LEADER (Optional) We try to offer some fun outdoor activities in the afternoon. If you have an interest in leading one of these activities please let us know. Each recreation session lasts 60 minutes. There are 2 of these each afternoon. Depending on camp size you may lead this activity 3 or 4 afternoons. The camp has a full size indoor gym, an outdoor volleyball court, a large field for soccer and baseball, an indoor craft room. Other outdoor sports we’ve done are archery and badminton.

    • Non-Parent adult helpers- We have had requests from people who want to give their services as a counselor or teacher who are not parents of homeschooled children. For these we require- a minimum of 21 years of age with at least one year experience as a junior counselor at this camp.
    • Junior counselorA Junior Counselor works with age groups at least 3 years younger than themselves.  A junior counselor is a helper to the adult cabin counselor. He / she may act as chaperone with at least one other adult chaperone in the group. He / she may teach a class under the guidance of an adult. A junior counselor must be at least 17 years old with a minimum of 2 years experience as a student camper at this camp. A junior counselor must provide the staff with the same references that an adult provides. Junior counselors pay the same fee as campers.  The science camp directors (and others) observe campers when they are 15 and 16 years of age to determine if they would be suitable for future junior counselors.  Because of the small size of our camp, we only need 2 or 3 girls and 2 or 3 boys each year in this position so not everyone who asks to be a junior counselor will be accepted.
